Proclamation of Local Emergency-Stage 2 Fire Restrictions

Mayor Escapule as proclaimed a local emergency, placing City of Tombstone under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, the following activities are strictly prohibited within City limits and all surrounding areas under City jurisdiction:

  1. All open flames including but not limited to:
    • Campfires
    • Bonfires
    • Fire pits
    • Wood charcoal grills
  1. Use of fireworks or other pyrotechnic devices
  2. Use of smoking materials in outdoor areas except within enclosed vehicles or designated areas clear of flammable vegetation
  3. Welding, cutting, or grinding metal in open areas without proper fire suppression measures
  4. Operating internal combustion engines (e.g., chainsaws) without spark arrestors

EXEMPTIONS:

  • Gas grills may be used at private residences on non-flammable surfaces, such as patios, with extreme caution.
  • Emergency services and authorized City maintenance crews may operate under special safety protocol

These restrictions will remain in effect until further notice and will be strictly enforced by the Tombstone Marshal’s Office and Tombstone Fire Department.

Violators may be subject to fines, citations, and other penalties as provided by City Code and State law.

The City urges all residents and visitors to exercise extreme caution and to report any signs of fire immediately to 911.
